Who we are
Mark Denness trading as Fixes to Finishes is a sole trader and is the data controller responsible for personal information handled in connection with this website and customer enquiries.
For privacy questions or requests, email fixes2finishes@gmail.com or call 07746 793556.
Information we collect
If you contact Mark by telephone, WhatsApp or email, you may provide your name, telephone number, email address, address or postcode, details of work you would like carried out, project photographs and correspondence. Relevant quotes, job details and invoice records may be created if you request or commission work.
Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information or photographs of other people.
How we use your information
Mark uses relevant information to respond to enquiries, discuss and prepare quotes, arrange visits, carry out agreed work, communicate with customers, maintain business records and deal with queries or disputes. The website does not offer a marketing mailing list, and contacting Mark does not subscribe you to marketing.
Lawful bases
- Contract: where information is necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract, or to carry out agreed work.
- Legal obligation: where information must be retained or used to meet applicable tax, accounting or other legal requirements.
- Legitimate interests: where necessary to manage general correspondence, protect the website, deal with disputes or display relevant customer feedback, subject to balancing these interests against individuals’ rights and reasonable expectations.
Who has access
Only Mark accesses customer enquiries and job details within the business. This does not mean that no service provider processes information: Gmail, WhatsApp, telephone providers and website hosting services process information as part of delivering their services.
Information may also be disclosed if required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Customer information is not sold.
How long information is kept
We delete enquiries that do not become jobs after 12 months from the last substantive contact, unless an ongoing discussion, dispute or legal requirement makes longer retention necessary.
We retain invoices and other records needed for tax purposes for the period required by HMRC, normally at least five years after the 31 January Self Assessment submission deadline for the relevant tax year.
Other completed-job records are kept only where needed for ongoing customer queries, contractual obligations or legal claims. We periodically review these records and delete information that is no longer necessary.
Website and technical information
This website provides links to call, WhatsApp or email Mark. It does not use a contact form, embedded WhatsApp chat, advertising trackers or visitor analytics. Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights are not enabled. The website’s own HTML code does not set cookies or use local storage.
The website is hosted by Vercel. Hosting infrastructure may process technical information, such as IP addresses and request or device information, to deliver and protect the website. Further information is available in Vercel’s privacy notice.
Communication services and international processing
Mark uses standard Gmail for email enquiries and standard WhatsApp for messages. Contact links open the relevant service on your device, and the providers’ own privacy terms apply to their handling of information.
These services, and the website’s hosting provider, may process personal information outside the UK. The providers describe their international-processing arrangements and applicable transfer mechanisms in their privacy information. These may include UK adequacy arrangements or approved contractual safeguards, depending on the provider and processing involved.
Further information is available in Google’s privacy policy, Google’s data transfer information, WhatsApp’s UK privacy policy and Vercel’s security and compliance information. Contact Mark if you have questions about how your information is handled, including the applicable transfer safeguards and how to obtain more information about them.
Customer reviews and photographs
The site displays six publicly available Google reviews about Mark’s work, using the names and review wording supplied for the website. Their display is intended to help prospective customers understand the services offered. Contact Mark if you are a reviewer and wish to raise a concern or request correction or removal of your name or review.
The Our Work gallery is currently coming soon. Before identifiable customer photographs are published, the necessary lawful basis and any required permission will need to be established.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, you may have rights to access your information, correct inaccuracies, request erasure, restrict processing, object to processing and receive certain information in a portable format. These rights are not absolute. If processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent.
Contact Mark using the details above to make a request. Information needed for legal record-keeping or the handling of a legal claim may need to be retained despite an erasure request.
Complaints
Please contact Mark if you have a privacy concern so he can try to resolve it. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this policy
This policy will be reviewed if website features, providers or information-handling practices change. The latest version will be available through the website footer.
